November Birchbox v's Glossybox

My favourite time of the month is when my beauty box's arrive. What's better than receiving surprise beauty products that might become your new favourites! Although I'm always excited to receive my beauty boxes there are a few months that I always look forward to more. February due to it being valentines themed usually, June as its usually great summer products for holidays and of course December's as generally the beauty box's are filled with more generous treats than normal.  So I obviously don't want to wish away the year and I know my November box has only just arrived, but I cant quite wait for the December box's to arrive! Anyway were it's November and its time to talk about what's inside this months boxes....

Birchbox

Box theme : Vogue

This month Birchbox have teamed up with Vogue, in order to bring us a box packed with the best beauty products that the industry has to offer! Inside this months box are products that have been hand picked from the Vogue 100 beauty hall of fame. A collaboration with Vogue meant that this months box wouldn't be an ordinary Birchbox, it would be a design that you would want to keep. If you're a Birchbox subscriber it meant that we got the choice out of two designs for this months box. A black and white classic theme or a pink/red and gold theme. I chose the pink/red and gold theme as red is my favourite colour.

A matte bronzing powder that means you can achieve that all year round sun kissed glow. I'm sure most people will have tried this amazing bronzer out already and if not then it will be a great discovery for you to try. I myself already own a full size Hoola, so this is a product I already know I love. I don't know whether to keep this as an extra, as I think it will be great for travelling with or to put it in an upcoming giveaway with some of my other favourite products. Anyway there's no surprise that this product features in Vogue's top 100, its actually number 45 on the list!.
This is a fun size sample which is around 1.4g of products. A full size is 8g and costs £24.50, the sample is worth around £4.29.

A leave in formula that contains nutrients to de-tangle hair, it also preps hair for styling and can refresh second day styles too. I have very thick hair that tangles easily, so a de-tangling product is a must for my hair after washing. I like that this not only de-tangles hair but also preps it for styling, strengthens follicles and adds shine, which means you can use less products on your hair! I'm excited to try this product out, I've never tried any hair product by bumble and bumble, so I'm looking forward to see if its worth the hype. This product comes in at number 80 on Vogue's top 100.
A full size product would cost £18 for 250ml, I have a decent 50ml sample that would costs around £3.60.

This dry shampoo has a gentle formula that absorbs excess oil, while also softening unruly strands. This also adds texture to hair, to prevent hair looking limp between washes. I've never heard of this brand before which surprises me, especially with it coming in at number 75 on the top 100 list. I'm not overly excited by receiving a dry shampoo in this months box, its nice to have and I suppose it will be nice to see if it does actually soften hair as well as absorbing excess oils. I would much rather have seen something else in my box than a dry shampoo!
For a full size dry shampoo it would cost £8 for 150ml, again I have a decent 50ml sample that would cost around £2.67

This is a fast-absorbing hand cream, that will quickly heal even the most hard-working of hands. I don't know if any of you are the same as me, but I hate receiving hand creams out of beauty boxes. For me they are filler products! This will make its way to my mum as she enjoys using hand creams and will appreciate this far more than I will. If you cant tell I'm not interested in trying this out as it doesn't excite me. This product came in at number 99 on the top 100 list.
A full sized hand cream costs £8 for 30ml, I have a 10ml sample which would cost around £2.67

A specially designed tool to help you clean your make-up brushes. This has been designed just for Birchbox, so this isn't on the Vogue's top 100 list. I do find it funny how last month we had a brush cleaner from Glossybox and now this month Birchbox have designed their own. I might be over thinking it but it feels like they've copied slightly. I do have a brush cleaning tool that I enjoy using, so I will give this a fair try and see if this helps me to clean my brushes that bit quicker and better.
This is full size and costs £5.

Box Price : £12.95 (including p+p)

Box Value : £18.23

Full Sized Products : 1/5

Products Excited To Try: 1/5

Overall Thoughts : I think this box could have been much better than what it was. Looking through Vogues top 100 list there was far more brands that could have been put into this box like Nars, Bobbi Brown, Essie and Estee Lauder. That's just naming a few of the many brands and products that was on that list. I suppose I should get used to November boxes being a bit of a let down as they generally save their best products for the December box. But as a long time subscriber I feel let down by Novembers box, as the only product I'm actually excited to try is the Bumble and Bumble prep spray. I hope that the December box is great and helps to redeem my thoughts on Birchbox.

Glossy Box

Box theme : Little Luxuries

November is about having cosy nights in and using luxurious products to keep you looking great throughout the winter months. This months box is supposedly full of little luxuries that you can use while having a cosy night in.

This natural bodywash is plant based and made in the UK. This bodywash is not only cleansing for the skin, but also calming. It's great for eczema, dry or sensitive skin. It contains Mexican Aloe Vera which not only soothes the skin but also hydrates. You should know by now that I'm not into these kinds of products, just because I hate the very natural scent of these products. Although I do know that this will be great for anyone suffering with overly dry skin this winter, which can affect a lot of us at this time of the year. So I do think this is a great product to put into this months box. I wont be using or testing this out right away, but I will keep this product locked away in my bodycare draw for when my skin is in need of a moisture hit.
This is 100ml which is travel size and costs £3.95. A full size would cost £8.95 for 300ml

This short soft bristled brush is perfecting for buffing and blending as well as seamlessly contouring and highlighting. I'm always excited about receiving a new make-up brush! I can confirm that the bristles are very soft and I'm really looking forward to trying this out. I think this would also be great at applying foundation too.
This is full size and costs £6.99

A limited edition lip balm that been created exclusively for Glossybox. The candyfloss flavoured pink lip balm leaves behind a sheer wash of colour, whilst also softening and soothing your lips. This also has SPF15 in the balm too. This is very sweet smelling and does feel very hydrating, but I don't think it has much colour to it at all. However it's a great product to have in these colder months.
This is full size and costs £4.99. Although candyfloss is exclusive to Glossybox, you can get other flavours such as raspberry.

A defining brow powder to fill in sparse areas and add depth to your brows. This actually featured in last Decembers box! I think it's quite rubbish to repeat a product in under a year! However the one I received in December was in the shade dark brown, so I couldn't really use it and gave it away. This time I've received it in the shade dark Blonde, which should be the perfect shade for my brows and I should actually get to use it this time. Although I do think its pants that they have repeated a product in less than a year, I'm also quite happy to receive one in the correct shade this time. I'm also aware that there will be many new subscribers that wont have had the last December box, so for them this will be a great product to try out.
This is also full size and costs £4.19

This powerful sheet mask contains willow bark and charcoal to purify the skin. I'm a massive fan of sheet masks, well any sort of masks really. But sheet masks are my fave! I'm excited to see if this will cleanse and purify my skin, as this is a boots mask which aren't overly expensive. I'm intrigued to find out if cheap and cheerful sheet masks are just as good as the more expensive ones.
This is full size and costs £2.50

Box Price : £13.25 (including p+p)

Box Value : £22.62

Full Sized Products : 4/5

Products Excited To Try :3/5

Overall Thoughts : I think this months products were very well picked for the time of the month, there all products designs to help us combat the winter weather and leave our skin feeling soft and hydrated. I'm very happy to have a new make-up brush and I'm looking forward to using the sheet mask and seeing how the brow product works out for me now its the correct shade. I think Glossybox haven't disappointed this month and it only gets me more excited for what's to come in their December box!

November Box Winner : Glossybox

Without a doubt Glossybox was this months winner. Birchbox for me was just a disappointment. I opened the box looked at it for one min and put it down as it just didn't interest me. Whereas with Glossybox I looked at each product and read the card on each product as I was interested it what each product had to offer.

What was your favourite box this month?

Don't forget to check back next month, to see what April has to offer.
